11. A football that is kicked for a field goal flies in a path described by the equation y = 4x/ 3 - x with interger 2/ 90.

The ball is kicked from the 35 yard line. In this equation, the height of the ball is y, and x is the horizontal distance (in feet) from the kicker. Round all answers to the nearest foot.

a) What is the maximum height of the football?
b) How far (horizontally) will the ball fly before it hits the ground?
c) Will the ball clear the crossbar? The crossbar is 10 feet above the playing surface.
d) How far will the ball be above/ below the crossbar?

10. A ball is thrown vertically (with a pitching machine) at an initial speed of 100 miles per hour (that is about 160 km/h) The high, H, of the ball at any time, t, is given by the function\
h=147 -16t^2 , where the height is measured in feet and the time in seconds
a) Find the maximum height that the ball will fly.
b)When does the ball reach the maximum height?
c)When does the ball hit the ground?
d)What is the height of the ball one second after being thrown?

Vertex - The lowest(or highest) point of a parabola
Axis of Symmetry - The graph of a quadratic function is symmetric with respect to a vertical line containing the vertex. This line is called the axis of symmetry.
Parabola - The graph of a quadratic function f(x) = ax+ bx + c is called a parabola
If a > 0, the parabola opens upward; if a is less that 0, the parabola opens downward.

Domain - The x values

Range - The y values
